The OneBeacon Welfare plan defines eligible dependents as follows:

  • Spouse - Your legally married spouse. Legal spouses include common-law spouses in states that recognize common-law marriages. If you become divorced your ex-spouse is no longer eligible for coverage.
  • Same-Sex Domestic Partner- must meet the following requirements:
    • Be financially interdependent and jointly responsible for each other's common welfare
    • Intend to remain in a committed relationship
    • Share the same living quarters and permanent address
    • Not be so closely related by blood that legal marriage would otherwise be prohibited
    • Be at least age 18
    • Not have been in a different domestic partner relationship or marriage within the last 12 months
    • The current relationship has been in effect for at least 12 months
  •  Child(ren) - Your children up to the age 26. Child means: natural child; step-child by legal marriage (including the child of a same-sex spouse or domestic partner), adopted or for whom legal guardianship has been awarded.

Employees enrolling in medical coverage for a spouse /domestic partner will be required to pay an additional $40 biweekly if the spouse/domestic partner is eligible for fulltime medical coverage elsewhere.
